Using Energy Therapies to Effectively Treat Chronic Health Challenges

man with bandaged arm

Let’s face it, all of us will experience pain caused by injury or illness during the course of our lives. Yet viewed holistically, these ‘events’ are rather interesting. They are part of the journey of the Soul, and often a ‘catalyst’ to wake up in some way.

The fastest way to ‘wake up’ to our true natures is to go beyond the materialistic paradigm that dominates our Western minds…

It is vital to realise that the body is an ‘energy system’ first and a ‘machine’, in terms of its structure and functioning, second.

If we believe that we are only machines, or machines first, then we will be operating from a ‘closed system’ which has no chance of recovery when it starts to decline.

If we believe that we are ‘energy systems’ first, then we will be operating from an ‘open system’ which can recover its potential to run at optimal levels, even when it has degraded.

In my own experience of working with clients, the process of healing and recovery often takes much longer, or may not even happen, if our underlying ‘energetic nature’ is not addressed first. This means we need to look at our ‘stories’ to see how they have triggered us – the ‘dis-ease’ is not separate from the client/patient.

If there is an energetic imbalance, the body will eventually go back to its former vibrational pattern of ill health or injury, even with medical treatment and exercise because the energy system is primary.

Drugs and surgery may be necessary in emergency situations, and when an energy system is too far out of balance; yet I often hear of unnecessary drug taking and surgeries, simply because it’s the norm – even when the results are not effective for a particular patient!

The fact is that the root cause of the injury may be located in the mental, emotional or spiritual bodies of consciousness – and the physical body is simply a reflection of the pattern of disease that has set in somewhere else entirely!

The yogis and seers have said ‘we are energy’ and that life is ‘maya’ or illusion for thousands of years.  Today, quantum science is just catching up!

When energy healing works its wonders and clients or practitioners share their stories with friends and strangers, there is often the usual, predictable negative backlash from the reductionist thinkers. It’s ‘placebo’, or that the illness or injury was purely ‘psychosomatic’. This is an unjustified piece of name calling from those who are highly unwilling to explore other realities beyond their rather limited five sense reality.

Anyone who has persisted in seeking a greater level of awareness, by developing a strong meditation practice for example, will surely have had the experience of ‘not being‘ their physical body alone, and coming into contact with a deeper level of awareness that transcends the grounded, physical dimension of experience.

This deeper essence within is the formless, timeless dimension that allows us to work with ourselves as energy, rather than matter.

We can only work at this level if we have raised our consciousness sufficiently. Intellectual study is not enough because the intellect is linked to the rational mind alone. Our intuitive wisdom brings a higher level of ‘seeing’ or ‘perceiving’ as it is aware of the whole pattern, and the body as an energy system.

I have seen many instances where the injury or illness, and accompanying pain, is obviously real and debilitating to the client, and there seems no way that it could be something as intangible as an ‘energy blockage’. Yet the results of an energy-based session or two have proved that things are not what they seem.

One client in her 60s had not been able to lift her arm for about a week. She had been applying hot and cold compresses to the affected area, and her husband had massaged the area several times with anti-inflammatory creams but there had been hardly any improvement. She was on the verge of going to see her GP to ask for a ‘standard’ cortisone injection! It has come to light in recent times that cortisone injections can often make things worse! Since the body heals itself by inflammation, the fact that cortisone inhibits the inflammatory process means that it actually blocks the healing process.

Intuitively, when I looked, I perceived a type of ‘energetic stain’ expressing through the cells of the body. By working at the level of the energy field, and then making some non-invasive, gentle adjustments to the shoulder my client informed me that all pain disappeared and full mobility returned to the shoulder only after a couple of days afterwards. She was very surprised but obviously relieved and gave me the following testimonial to share:

“After doing some moderate exercise, I suddenly developed a very painful, sore shoulder to the point where I thought I would ask my doctor to give me a cortisone injection for the pain. I used a hot water bottle and my husband massaged the area every day but to little effect. Jaime healed the problem through an energy-based approach. I didn’t believe that such a serious condition could be solved this way, nor so quickly, but thanks to Jaime my shoulder problem disappeared within a day or two and feels completely normal again. This proves to me that things aren’t always what they seem.” ST

Another stand-out case for me was a doctor, SV, who was experiencing severe ill health. She had exhausted all conventional routes known to her to help alleviate the painful symptoms brought on by her recently diagnosed endometriosis. Currently there is no known ‘medical’ understanding of how it appears, and no ‘cure’ apart from surgery. As a doctor, she was highly cautious, if not skeptical, of energy healing but, at least, willing to try.

After the first energy session she was astounded that her pain levels dropped from 9 out of 10 to 1 out of 10, and stayed consistently low. With that unquestionable result, she decided to have a follow up session a couple of weeks later. Days after the second round of energy work, all associated pain vanished along with the actual symptoms of endometriosis!

Many bona fide energy healing practitioners are doing exactly this type quietly in the background, so we need to stop calling things ‘placebo’ (in the derogatory sense) when they are not.

In a positive sense, everything truly is ‘placebo’ because everything we experience originates in the mind… ‘the mind is everything’, Buddha said.

From an energetic standpoint, the key question for any health issue then becomes, “to what degree is physical pain caused by an underlying energy-based (mind) pattern?” And, more importantly, “how can we address the energetic root cause, if there is one?”

Physical therapies obviously have their place in today’s world, and many physical therapists do fantastic work. However, I find there is still a great reluctance by the mainstream to even look at “alternative” health, never mind energetic approaches.

This is mainly due to fear and misinformation around the subject.

Reiki has become more accepted as a form of ’emotional soothing’ in hospitals but the idea that it could radically shift the actual physical well-being of the client is often viewed with disbelief and disdain. Scientific thinkers (but not all scientists!) say there is not enough evidence, despite the thousands of energy healings done by hundreds of practitioners each day!

What is clear is that the acceptance and widespread use of various energy healing methods continue to grow at the grass roots level due to powerful testimonials of clients and practitioners throughout the world. Indeed, a personal healing where nothing else has worked is ‘evidence’ enough! Clients who experience the benefits of energy healing consistently recommend their energy workers/alternative therapists to their family and friends, despite the constant whinging and pooh-poohing by naysayers and skeptics.

In closing, I would say that an integrated approach to well-being, combining medical, physical and energetic approaches, will naturally produce the best result for the client, and should be client-led.

There is a deep wisdom inside each of us waiting to be tapped.

Remember, the only thing stopping you from exploring this new and exciting field of radical new health, increased vitality, and expanded consciousness is you, so what are you waiting for?

thank you for your excellent article. I am a reiki master practitioner and have studied energy medicine, healing touch and quantum touch. I believe every word you wrote. It is a logical clear description of how healing works. It is a total shift from the way we were taught to respond to symptoms, subdue the pain with melds, or cut out the broken bit etc. it will take a long time to educate people because of big pharma as well as the medical responders who are only taught one way, and everything is negated. Keep doing what you are doing. Living in your truth.

I am a believer in reiki 100%. As a nurse I have seen patients benefit from it and cut their medication use down tremendously while receiving pain relief . My mother and cousin are both trained in it and we’re able to work on me remotely last year when I had to have surgery for a torn rotator cuff. They did it prior to surgery then a couple times after to promote healing and my recovery was remarkable and I was able to deal with post surgical recovery without the use of heavy duty narcotics. Highly advise trying it especially if you are dealing with chronic pain.

Good article. While I agree with what you say, I did not see any discussion on how the individual’s personal background fits in with the energy flow or blockage. I believe that our “stories” are often the root behind the blockages we have. Once we are willing to examine how we each have evolved in our personalities and belief systems, and grow to understand our unique journeys, we can unblock the unbalanced energy, whatever it is. When you mention sometimes the energy blockage is so bad, medical intervention is necessary, I question that. There are so many examples now, of people being sent home to die, from the medical establishment, and yet they have survived far beyond expectations. It is all about the Energy, and our stories are a part of that. We are truly amazing powerful beings, who often just don’t realize how powerful we are. Namaste.

Hi Donna, I resonate very much with what you have said in that the our ‘stories’ are strongly linked to the energy blockages that manifest in our bodies. I didn’t mention these clients’ backgrounds purely because I wanted to focus on the healing outcome to highlight that energy healing is able to address physical challenges. I do agree that focusing on stories would provide excellent insights and will keep that as a note to self for another time. I didn’t say that an energy blockage causes all illness and injury, so I would still stick by my comment that the Emergency Room is useful where, for example, a person has a car crash and is severely injured. If they are internally or externally hemorrhaging, that kind of trauma needs immediate medical attention to save their life. Blessings!

Hi Jaime, Thanks for your response. I totally agree on the emergency scenario. Cutting your arm off, or hemorrhaging is a totally different situation. We are such magical creatures.
