Is this destroying your health without you knowing?
However, the consequences, long term, can be grim.
One of the things I’ve learned as I’ve followed the ‘alternative’ health path is that there are no shortcuts to vibrant health. Often we will make mistakes, and go down rocky roads and even get stuck in blind alleys.
Many people are not conscious of even their own breath, and how they breathe incorrectly from habit, or when they are tired and stressed.
Worse still, the majority of people out there are just not aware of how food is impacting them when they eat. There’s so much conflicting information out there as well, with endless studies that contradict one another.
The bottom line is that most of us have learned to tune out our bodies and we have become overly reliant on Western diagnostic tools to tell us when something is ‘bad’, and tp confirm back to us when we have a disease or illness.
That diagnosis might come from a routine check up, or it might come from feeling ill and needing to go to the doctor about a symptom that’s already manifested many months — or even years — down the road.
The sad thing about the ‘new normal’ is that I’m hearing that doctors are now being expected to diagnose patients over the phone or internet (Zoom!), unless it’s ‘critical’, so it’s even more important for us to take charge, and take hold of the reigns of our own health.
Today, I want to talk about an oil which has snuck into the food supply chain. It’s also lethal if you consume a lot of it (no joke). I’ve had a severe body reaction to this oil, hidden in a ‘healthy’ food product – and was startled at just how quickly and violently my body reacted.
Through many years of yoga and meditation, plus eating a clean, whole foods diet, I am much more tuned into how various types of food affect my body. When I ate a product with this oil recently (hint: i didn’t check the ingredients’ list), I had an almost immediate bout of diarrhoea. My body wanted to expel this substance from it as quickly as possible!
Many people’s digestive systems are not so finely tuned, and are very sluggish from intaking too much dairy, wheat, eggs and other substances that feed pathogens. Even if you eat plant-based, if you consume a lot of nut milks, vegan cheese etc, you’re system will be sluggish, unless you are exercising a lot to burn that fat off.
At this time of Corona Virus, it’s even more vital to understand that we do not want to be ticking-time bombs that will go off when we are dealing with a viral load.
This oil has become commonly used in restaurants as a replacement for unhealthy lard, cottonseed oil and corn oil – and as a cheaper, lower fat replacement for olive oil. Even in restaurants, they will often say they are using “olive oil” but it will be a blend of various oils.
I tried to buy some bread from my local supermarket for my elderly parents – and nearly all the loaves of bread had this oil in it! I was astounded!
I’m 100% plant-based, and so are my wife and 3 year old son (he’s as strong as an ox). Usually we eat only whole foods and cook everything from scratch. However, we tried to pick out a couple of ‘healthy’ options from the vegan section in the supermarket and, once again, the vast majority of products had this oil in them.
You can probably find industry-backed research that will tout the benefits of this oil, but that’s the danger with trusting ‘the science’ today, and NOT listening to your body’s wisdom.
So. what is the name of this mystery oil?
You’ll find it listed as either canola oil, or rapeseed oil. (Canola oil is simply the culinary version of rapeseed oil).
