Tap into the power of your Superconscious mind!
The superconscious state of awareness has its physical counterpart in the frontal lobe of the brain. Your daily waking conscious state operates from the middle part of the brain; and your subconscious impulses come from the lower ‘reptilian’ brain.
Thus, there is a kind of linear progression of awareness from subconsciousness toward superconsciousness, although nothing is truly linear in terms of consciousness. Indeed, the superconscious mind encompasses all three ‘levels’ of the mind.
If you want to develop the ability to distinguish from one state of consciousness to another, the simple exercise below can help.
Usually, when you look down, your mind will tend to drift into a subconscious state of awareness. If you look straight ahead, you can easily shake off your lethargy or ‘programmed’ state. And if you look slightly up, towards the third eye centre, you will find it easier to connect with your higher consciousness and receive higher guidance.
Notice how your state of consciousness shifts with each position of your eyes.
2 minute exercise to shift your state of consciousness
Find a safe, comfortable space first – preferably where you won’t be disturbed and can ‘tune in’.
Gaze downwards, then close your eyes whilst maintaining this eye position. Feel or imagine yourself drifting downward as if sinking through water—through forests of waving seaweed, and then ever deeper into a green, misty world of pure fantasy. Make it as vivid as you wish – and enjoy this pleasant sense of freedom from earthly responsibility, demanding projects, from fears and worries, and from the endless desires and ambitions that stream through you.
Affirm, “Through slowly drifting waters, I sink into subconsciousness.”
Now, with a quick burst of active will power, open your eyes and gaze straight ahead of you. Shake off the last clinging tendrils of passivity.
Affirm, “With a burst of energy I rise to greet the world!” Remain present in that state a few moments.
Finally, look upward and affirm, “I am my High Self, I am joyful and free!”
Practice alternating between these three states of consciousness (energy and awareness) as often as you like, noticing the shift in the position of your eyes. Gradually, you will gain the ability to control your states of consciousness at will.
