June Solstice Ritual 2018
The June 21st Solstice brings a turning point in the year. It is a time to reflect on our goals for the year gone by, and to think about how we can take what we have learned or experienced and use it to move forward.
This year’s Solstice falls just before the planet of action and energy, Mars, turns retrograde. This means that we are going to have a lot of encouragement from the Universe to look over our past and to work out what actions, attitudes, and beliefs we may need to adjust so we can get where we want to be.
What is no longer serving you? What is blocking you from feeling how you want to feel?
Happiness is an inside job. Success is an inside job. You are in charge of creating these states of being for yourself. It doesn’t matter where you are or what you are doing, you always have the power to create these feel-good emotions.
We can use this turning point Solstice energy to help us think about what is working or not working in our lives. We can use this Solstice energy to create a beautiful new chapter for the remainder of the year.
Here is your June Solstice Ritual for 2018-
You will need:
Smudging tool of choice (for those in the Northern Hemisphere I like Palo Santo, for those in the Southern Hemisphere I like sage, but feel free to use whatever you have on hand or whatever you feel drawn to)
Pen and Paper
1.) Light your candle and begin by smudging your surroundings and aura (here are some specific instructions). As you cleanse yourself and your space, recite the following mantra or feel free to write your own-
“I cleanse and release all expectations I have been putting on myself. I cleanse away anything that prevents me from standing light and free. I am right where I need to be. Where I am right now is perfect. And as I cleanse I know that this is true.”
2.) Take a few deep breaths to settle your mind. On your exhale imagine pushing out all the old, stagnant air. On your inhale, imagine taking a full, deep breath of fresh air. Repeat this 5-7 times.
3.) Now take a moment to reflect on the year gone by so far. Perhaps think about your achievements, or what you could have done better. Think about what you have learned. Are you where you thought you would be? Try not to judge, instead just observe and see what thoughts or feelings come up.
4.) Now, tap into what you want to feel moving forward. What energy or feelings do you want to bring into your life for the remainder of the year. Do you want more calm energy? More confident energy? More ambitious energy? More happy energy? Think about what you want to bring into your life. Try to clarify it into one sentence. Keep it simple.
For example: I want to feel more calm energy
5.) Now think about what blocks or stops you from bringing this energy into your life currently. When do you not feel calm or at peace? When do you not feel how you want to feel?
For example, I don’t feel calm when….
Dealing with change
Working with a particular co-worker
Attending family gatherings
And so on…
Write down a list of whatever comes to your mind and be specific. Keep pushing to think of as many as you can.
6.) Now that you have your list in front of you, perhaps think about solutions or ways you can buffer these situations.
For example, if you don’t feel calm dealing with change perhaps you can try to relieve your anxiety by staying present or in the moment. Perhaps you can also create more stability such as a routine or structure.
Don’t worry too much if you can’t come up with a solution for everyone of them. Just a few is fine, the main idea is to become aware of them.
7.) Now think about what makes you feel calm, or makes you feel the way you want to feel. Make a list of all the things that you do or think that make you feel this way.
For example, I feel calm when…
I am around loved ones
And so on…
Again, push yourself to think of as many things as you can.
8.) Looking at your list in front of you, figure out a way you can bring more of these actions or feelings into your day to day life now. Think about how you can make them part of your routine or how you can capitalise on them.
The main idea is to become aware of the things that you are doing that are aligning with how you want to feel and the things that are not.
9.) Now set a new intention for the months to come. You can set more than one intention if you wish. Here’s an example-
“My intention for the rest of the year ahead is to meditate daily for 20 minutes so I can bring more calm energy into my life.”
10.) Once you have your intention, close your eyes and place your hand over your heart. Repeat your intention to yourself quietly. Don’t force it, instead allow yourself to feel it. Ask the Universe to guide you and trust that you will receive the signs and messages you need.
11.) Once you have felt the intention in your heart, blow out your candle and imagine your message being sent up and off to the heavens. For best results, put your intention somewhere you can see it every day as a reminder.
