Remote healing: exploring a new paradigm

artistic view of inflammed and painful hand “Since the physical body arises out of an energy field, an imbalance or distortion in this field will eventually cause a disease in the physical body that it governs. Therefore, healing distortions in the field will bring about healing in the physical body. Healing is a matter of learning how to heal the field by restructuring, balancing, and charging it.” Barbara Ann Brennan

One client was in her seventies, and experiencing some emotional stress. She had heard of remote healing and wanted to see if it could work for her. The main thing she said she wanted to address was the emotional upheaval that she was going through but during the initial consultation she also asked if we could address the long-standing arthritis which was causing her severe pain in her joints, particularly in her hands, when the weather was cold.

She was on meds, but they were not doing very much to alleviate the pain.

By working with my Higher Consciousness (call this what you will), I asked for ‘cleaning’ of the various subtle bodies that were out-picturing as arthritis, charging them with ‘ki’.

Rather than labelling or diagnosing, my High Self or Spirit will just name a word or more that points to energy of what needs to be cleaned.  For example, ‘illness’, ‘health challenge’, ‘resentment’, ‘anger’ and so on.

By cleaning the energy, distortions in the localised field (i.e. the body) were healed.

After just two such healing sessions, she emailed me to say how surprised and delighted she was because she didn’t think that the healing would be that effective!

“I am thrilled with the help you have given me. The long-standing arthritis in my hands is almost not there anymore! As well, I am feeling far clearer in my head and much more peaceful, all thanks to your treatments!” MD

What made this even more remarkable is that she was based in Scotland and I carried out the sessions in ‘real time’ from London, England… hundreds of miles away!

This type of energy healing is commonly known as remote healing or “absent healing” where the client is not physically present.

“Remote healing” is the term used where the client is not physically present but the practitioner is still communicating with him/her directly — for example, via Skype/FaceTime or over the phone; “absent healing” is usually used where the client is not physically present, and the energy practitioner is doing the work without their conscious awareness of what is happening.

I first came across the possibility of this type of energy healing when I started learning the Japanese Art of Reiki in 2003. I remember my skepticism as thoughts such as “how could this be possible?” and also “what a load of mumbo jumbo!” flashed across the screen of my mind.

I’m sure a lot of rationally minded people have similar thoughts including some, or most, of you reading this! Even if they do entertain even the slightest possibility that such a thing is possible, they remain wary of it!

Let’s face it, most people have subconsciously been introduced to the idea of energy work in a negative way, through the concept of Voodoo or Black Magic, mainly from Hollywood-type films and horror stories. The nasty idea of some black magician sticking pins in a doll and somehow adversely manipulating the mind and energy field of another person has stuck with us! It’s no surprise then that people remain wary, as it’s part of the collective fear-based consciousness. I just roll my eyes whenever I see Hollywood films use the stereotypical image of black magic being done… No change there!

Even if we believe that distant healing for the good of the client is possible, it does take a high degree of trust (between healer and client) to allow remote healing to happen. Yet that’s not the same as belief. Someone can have a high degree of doubt about the efficacy of the process but keep an inquiring mind, and thus be open to the possibility. If someone is not willing to keep an open mind, and is out to ‘prove’ that it doesn’t work for example, then this state of mind will block the process – and that’s a good thing, since we should remain in control of our energy!

Sadly, there are many fraudsters who are just taking people’s money for nothing, preying on the weak and vulnerable – and before fully accepting my role as healer and teacher, I came across a few of them  myself on this journey to conscious awareness! So for those seeking to find an energy healer who is authentic, I offer the following advice: be skeptical and ask good questions! Trust your gut! Genuine energy healers have walked the path and got a few bumps along the way as they’ve gone through the rigorous training required to this work with integrity, compassion and great understanding.

You actually have the ability to discern whether the person you are talking to ‘knows’ how to do the work. If they sound vague or try to control you in any way, then walk away. If they are able to explain what you can expect and there is a resonance between you, and you feel safe in their presence, then they are most likely to be genuine. Look for testimonials from other people so long as the healer isn’t ‘new’… after all, we all have to start somewhere!

I advise sleeping on it once you’ve got all the information you need. Be wary of those who tell you that you ‘need’ a high amount of sessions, or promise you particular outcomes.

Even though I continue to see wonderful results with my clients, I never promise a particular outcome for a new client because I just don’t know. A genuine energy therapist will never guarantee an outcome because, ultimately, the mind and body will need time to respond and integrate the frequency shifts… and healing is a journey.

Once the verifiable benefits of remote healing are experienced, then many worldly limitations are removed, like having to travel long distances. What is most exciting is to see a client shift in awareness, realising that the material body is underpinned by an energetic reality that typically lies outside of everyday awareness.

Experience is truly our best teacher and a personal experience of something will always eradicate all doubt (or nearly all doubt!).

We are all linked together in a sea of energy, in an “entangled” state, so there is no need to “send” energy healing to another person. It all happens instantaneously, through intention.

Just pause for a moment to think about it from a human perspective – your own perspective. The only real moment that exists is always now. The ‘past’ and the ‘future’ exist only in your imagination, not in reality.

You might well ask, if all this is true, then why hasn’t this ‘new’ science been adopted by mainstream biology? Why isn’t it being taught in schools and universities?

Partly it is down to our history.

In the last century, we have had extraordinary breakthroughs in physics but, conversely and paradoxically, modern medicine is failing in its mission to stem the tide of human diseases, and failing spectacularly at that.

We still don’t know why we get ill, how a single cell turns into a human being, or what happens when we “die”, and classical biology, which is rooted in classical physics, cannot explain spontaneous remission of diseases like cancer.

The other part is down to the agenda of the Big Pharmaceuticals to disparage anything that doesn’t turn them a huge profit as ‘non scientific’ or ‘anti science’ or ‘woo woo’ or whatever derogatory term you care to mention.

They would rather sell you a pill for the rest of your life than cure you.

And they definitely don’t want you exploring ‘alternative health’, especially if it works.

Due to the awakening consciousness of humanity, there is now a huge grass roots movement to return to ‘natural’ remedies and ‘alternative’ solutions, including energy healing.

Many people are waking up to the long-known fact that prescription and other drugs have huge side effects, often leading to secondary and tertiary medications with their own range of side effects, which can be serious in their own right, and that these drugs are only treating the symptoms of disease in the body, and not the cause of the disease itself.

In medical training, trainee doctors generally don’t ask where disease originates from… they deal with diagnosis and treatment. The proverbial elephant in the room is not mentioned!

To fully look at where disease really comes from would take them into the murky and uncomfortable realm of metaphysics… I know this first-hand because I come from a medical family!

Medicine, of course, has its place where it is working well, of course – and I often advise my clients to go to see their doctor to rule out anything ‘obvious’ first. In this sense, an integrative approach is the best way forward.

Yet where medicine and conventional approaches are consistently failing the patient, and they are facing an uphill battle from the many different (and often unknown) side effects from the multiple interactions from complex medications, then energy healing can serve as a powerful platform to help that person recover. Of course, the actual healing is down to the body-mind interaction… not the healer alone. There are complex energetic interactions at play.

One of the best things I like about the energy healing route is that it restores a sense of wholeness to the person being treated. They don’t feel like a machine that is breaking down. The Higher Perspective is also healing in its own right, even where an immediate physical transformation does not happen. A sense of wholeness, and peace of mind, is restored – which is a balm to the restless, agitated mind. The Spirit can then guide the client forward.

It’s high time to get rid of the Victim archetype, remembering that we are at cause in our creations, not merely at the effect of them!

It is our response to life experiences that determines which patterns of health or disease are activated. Once we understand this, we will no longer willingly give our power away to a faceless authority, and continue to suffer needlessly!

The invitation is to stay open to new ideas and possibilities, especially in terms of our health and well-being. As Dr. Wayne Dyer reminds us, “The highest form of ignorance is when you reject something you don’t know anything about.”

Truly, I don’t think anyone can say… the Soul is in charge of its own journey and will decide what it wants to experience. We simply have to trust, and that is much easier once negative energies are cleared. Blessings!

I am very interested about this. How is it done? I experienced being healed through absent healing years back.

The ‘how’ is mainly down to intention and ‘coherent’ energy fields – beyond that, there are many ways/techniques to consciously‘link’ with another person at a distance for healing. The real fact of the matter is that we are all linked to each, all of the time, in an entangled ‘energy’ web. This matrix is the basis of our lives, and all life on the planet.

Inspiring! I’ve been doing a lot of research trying to learn more about healing as I’ve been able to heal people in extreme cases but only a few times in a relaxed, planned setting

Extremely well written and grounded in truth. Thank you for writing this, as this is my experience as an energy practitioner and working much of the time with “absent healing”.

Great read. Right on. Thank you

Good read except for the part about doctors not being “allowed” to ask about the cause of illness. That is an absurd comment and is just not true. You dont need to falsify one system to glorify another. As an energy healer myself, I am inspired by the rest of your article and found it very informative but disapointed in your need to attack your perceived “competition’”. This does not serve healers and the uphill journey we have towards integrative medicine.

I am suffering from rhumatic arthritis. How to cure this. Can i learn this remote healing? How?

Very interesting article, thank you for sharing, however, I dont agree with this statement, “We still don’t know why we get ill, how a single cell turns into a human being, or what happens when we “die”, and classical biology, which is rooted in classical physics, cannot explain spontaneous remission of diseases like cancer”. Through Neuroscience and Epigenetics from the hands of doctors such as Bruce Lipton & Joe Dispenza, those answers have been solved already.

  11. Thanks for mentioning that distance healing requires a high degree of trust between the healer and the client for the healing process to occur. My mother passed away last month, and I’ve really been struggling emotionally since we were really close. I’ll have to see if I can find a great remote healer who I connect well with so I can get back on track.
